Black Mountain Sand
The Permian Basin is quickly growing into one of the largest oil patches in the world. Because of the incredibly competitive nature of this business, it is pertinent for mines in this area to get to market quickly and efficiently. At the Black Mountain Sand plant in Kermit Texas, there was an additional goal of having an extraordinary amount of vertical storage for their sand.
Objective and Results
The goal of Black Mountain Sand was to be the premier sand producer of the Permian Basin area and beyond. At 29,000 acres, it is the biggest sand producing mine in West Texas, and has 10 million annual tons of mine capacity producing both 40/70 & 100-mesh. Additionally, the customer required the construction of a a 64,000 vertical storage facility at the mine. It was very important to them to have the ability to store more sand than other mines, giving them the ability to produce sand but not sell it until the price was more advantageous to them.
